I really line the beam pattern and adjustability of this unit. One thing I noticed immediately is No Glare on my glasses. many previous headlights shined on the top of my glasses causing some glare unless placed high on my forehead. The 400-R totally eliminates this problem no matter where the light is sitting on my forehead. Controls are easy , the only one control that is a bit of a challenge is the "instant high" mode tap, but I don't have the problem some reported of that accidentally being turned on. Battery life has been very good. My older Spot 350 has more flush buttons that are hard to differentiate, especially while wearing gloves and the "clicky" angle adjustment was a bit annoying.
