Beyond the Gates of Antares game play makes use of the successful and exciting dice activation system first pioneered in Warlord’s popular Bolt Action WW2 wargame – ensuring that both sides remain active and engaged throughout every game. Resolution is by ten-sided dice offering considerable expansion and great range of detail compared to traditional six-sided dice. The Ghar were forged in the forgotten depths of time with one purpose – to wage war! They are feeble and helpless creatures without the protective battle armour that all Ghar warriors wear to battle. Once encased within their metal shells, physically attached by plugs inserted into their spines, they become stronger and more powerful than any mere human. Ghar battle armour is powered by plasma reactors designed to channel raw energy through magnetic lines to their metal limbs and weapons. Ghar Flitters are not probes in the same way as those of advanced Antarean societies such as the Concord. Flitters are tiny fragile flying cameras with mechanical wings a little like a bat. They fly in a jerky, irregular manner and are attracted towards movement, but are not even remotely intelligent machines. They broadcast pictures that can be picked up by Ghar battlesuit and vehicle interfaces, giving Ghar troops a glimpse of the battlefield from the flitter’s perspective.Surveillance drones.
