Description: ANTIQUEGORHAM GREENLEAF & CROSBYSTERLING REPOUSSE' CHEESE KNIFE Offered for sale is an elegant sterling silver cheese knife by Gorham Greenleaf & Crosby. It features an intricate floral repousse' pattern which dates from the 1870s to 1890s. The knife is in very nice condition for its age. The handle has a beautiful patina with some tiny scratches from use but minimal wear to the raised relief pattern. Textural details are still evident under close inspection. There are many fine scratches on the blade, which would be expected for its age. There are also a couple of tiny nicks along the edge of the serrated blade, which also has some wear. The knife is 8 3/4 inches long and weighs 46.69 grams on my scale, though this should be considered an approximate weight as scales may vary. The handle is marked Sterling, and it appears to be hollow. I am not sure about the material of the blade, but I read elsewhere that it is silverplate. Shipping will be via USPS First Class Mail.
