Description: A very interesting genuine antique bit. Likely from India or Pakistan or that general area. Slimmer possibility it could be Chinese. They liked peacocks and it’s a shape they seemed to use. I believe it’s likely half of a buckle. Possibly a cross body sash buckle which were commonly worn by military. Two pieces (one on each end of the belt) would interlock to form one solid buckle. At first glance you wouldn’t think this was military but in that part of the world in the 18th or 19th century it may have been appropriate. I believe this part is likely 19th century or if not 18th century. The old New England collection it came out of had items ranging from the 16th-19th century, mostly 18th/19th. It’s roughly 3.5”x6”. Condition is great with just appropriate wear and a tiny spot of oxidization. Ships ASAP! Thanks Screenshots at end of photos just show similar shaped items I found. Last one shows soldiers wearing cross body sashes with buckles likely hidden by their positioning.
