Description: Antique bust of a Young Lady - French Peasant Girl - after Grinam Niam - Dimensions are ; 19" high , 11" wide at the shoulders , 6 1/2" deep - Sculptor , Grinam Niam - Material is Heavy Plaster . This bust of a young French girl is from 1920's Paris. She is referred to alternately as either a 'Young Lady' or a 'French Peasant Girl'. Normally dress is indicative of the status of an individual whether 'Society' or 'Peasant', this could be either as the manner of her dress and hair is somewhat vague. It is painted in its original 'raw bronze tone' and though examples exist in cream and plain white plaster this variation is more desirable and more rare. Created in 1920's Paris , she is indeed young , clad in a simple dress cinched at the breastbone with a tied string and wearing a simple floppy hat. Her head is lightly cocked and turned slightly to her left in an inquisitive look. A very fine work from early in the last century it's a quaint example of young Parisian girl .
