Description: Here you get 20+ seeds of Cardoon Seeds, Cynara cardunculus, also known as Artichoke Thistle: Cardoons have a much larger, thicker midrib than artichoke. These stalks or stems can be peeled and roasted and have a similar flavor to the artichoke heart when prepared correctly. In addition to their culinary value, they make a dramatic ornamental plant with a height of over 6 feet and purple flowers. These plants grow as a tender perennials in zone 7-11 and can be started in spring, summer and fall until September. They will overwinter there, in colder zones it is an annual and should be started in spring. Put these in a sunny spot in well-drained, organic rich soil. Sow seed ¼ inch deep Thin them and plant them 3 feet apart from each other. Please look at my other auctions. I will be happy to combine shipping and include bonus seeds as my appreciation for you!
