Description: This would be the last year this union organization would be referred to as the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen as it merged with three other unions to form the United Transportation Union in 1969. This particular card was given out by the Union's General Grievance Committee at the Rock Island, Illinois location. It provides a summary of what conductors and brakemen can expect to be paid and have this small handy card to place in their pockets rather than having to comb through booklets. Gave them the ability to challenge pay discrepancies when those discrepancies occur right away. Also, the pay rates/table shows the negotiating efforts of the union. Condition - it shows obvious wear so we can assume it belonged to a union member who kept this handy. Maybe even kept it daily in their pocket or wallet. It was stored unfolded, so the paper is more reluctant to fold like it originally was intended. Despite its blemishes it is still very legible and the paper is not flakey or falling apart. Card is approx. 4" x 2-1/2" (folded - will be shipped folded unless you specify otherwise)
