Description: This is a uniface, obverse trial strike of the 1961 commemorative 1 Peso coin featuring Jose Rizal on an oversized, lead planchet. It was engraved by Engelhardus von Hebel of the United States Mint. This piece originated from a group of very rare von Hebel medals and coins, and I can only assume that this was a piece that came from him. It would not have been unheard of for an engraver to have uniface or trial strikes of their own work and considering the number of von Hebel pieces in the lot, that seems the most reasonable. As far as I am aware, it is unique.
