Description: Vintage 1940s German Casige Toy Sewing Machine Casige Fairy Tale Model 121 The name Casige, was pronounced (Kaseege), Casige produced toys from 1902 until 1975. This size of machine was not a toy as they were designed for children to learn how to sew - perfect size for making doll clothes. It is a single thread that produces a chain stitch. This is a rare little one with a Fairy or Pixie on one side and a Boy Archer who I am guessing is William Tell and his dog on the reverse side. Casige had over 83 models in over 600 different design combinations. This is by far the one to have and on all collectors top 10 list. Engraved on the silver sewing plate is an eagle and Casige Made in Germany British Zone. Color is a gloss black and, on the base, has a wonderful art deco design. History, The Allied powers who defeated Germany in World War II divided the country west of the Oder-Neisse line into four occupation zones for administrative purposes during the period 1945 -1949. Since this machine is engraved British Zone, I would say it was produced during the Allied occupation. (This information was acquired from several different websites) Circa, 1945-49 Machine Measures; 6 3/4” x 4” x 6” tall Condition is good with some paint lose and light surface rust on base, operates smoothly, does not have a needle so unable to fully test, does not have the hold down clamp.
