Edward Thomson was an American Bishop for the Methodist Episcopal Church. He initially studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, but shortly after his licensure, he received the position of junior preacher. He continued to move through preaching positions before becoming the principal of the Norfolk Seminary. He was elected to the Episcopacy in 1864, where he continued to work until his death.
