Gilbert Abbott à Beckett (1811 – 1856) was an English humorist, and contributor to Punch magazine. He is perhaps best known as the author of Comic History of England, Comic History of Rome, Comic Blackstone, and other comic works. Bookseller's label (S. and T. Gilbert) to front pastedown. CONDITION In a green cloth binding with gilt decoration. Externally smart, with just a couple of marks to the boards and some wear to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Front hinge strained but firm Pages have some scattered light spotting.
