Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. The HMS Nelson was the lead ship in a class of Royal Navy Battleships built in the 1920s and were unique by having three turrets of 16” main guns forward of the bridge. This gave them a very unusual appearance compared to other battleships of the time. In 2015, Trumpeter released this fantastic kit of HMS Nelson in 1/200 scale as he appeared in 1944. State-of-the-art slide mold technology allows the hull and main deck to be single pieces and the large scale means there are details everywhere you look. FYI - I may still have a KA-Models Armament set (#MS-20010) listed if you are interested in taking this kit to the next level. I found plenty of listings for this kit on eBay (almost all from overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this stunning, large-scale kit: The Trumpeter site (trumpeter-china.com) shows 18 high-resolution photos of the box art, painting guide, hull and main deck parts, sprues and metal photo etched and prop shaft parts. The kit specifications are listed and the following history and information about the HMS Nelson is provided: HMS Nelson was laid down at Armstrong-Whitworth’s shipyard in Newcastle-on-Tyne on December 28th, 1922, launched on September 3rd, 1925, and commissioned on August 15th, 1927. At the outbreak of World War II in September 1939, Nelson was serving as flagship of the Home Fleet. In March 1941, Nelson supported the landing raid on the Lofoten Islands, Norway, against German factories producing fish oil and glycerin. The same year, Nelson transferred to the Mediterranean, taking part in one of the Malta Convoys. In November 1942, Nelson was active in the “Operation Torch” landings in French North Africa. In July 1943, Nelson supported the Allied invasion of Sicily “Operation Husky”, and the Salerno landing in September 1943. On September 29th, 1943, General Dwight D Eisenhower, on behalf of the Allies, and Marshal Badoglio of Italy signed the Italian surrender agreement aboard Nelson. In 1944, Nelson took part in the Normandy landings, subsequently transferring to the Indian Ocean to participate in the war on Japan in August and September 1945. The Japanese surrender of Malaya was signed aboard Nelson on September 3rd, 1945. After the war ended in 1945, Nelson was retired from active service and used on training duties until 1947, becoming a bombing target before being sold for scrap in 1948. Scalemates.com has a listing that confirms this is a new tooling from 2015. They show the dynamic box art and provide many links to references, aftermarket parts and reviews to help you get the details just right. Mark Deakin posted a quick In-Box Review on the shipmodels.info site. He gives his impressions of the kit at a high level, pointing out the good and bad. In several areas, he compared it favorably to the Missouri and Bismarck kits previously released by Trumpeter. Among the positive comments: “The pom poms also look quite nice with some nice molded on tread plate detail with decent looking ammo boxes.” 50 Something Bloke recorded a 10-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube that reveals that inside the box there are a bunch more boxes! It is impressive to see the super-long one-piece hull and one-piece main deck. He is a little OCD and spends almost as much time refilling the boxes as opening them. This kit is in a massive box about 47” x 18” x 6”. As you can see from the pictures, the box is still sealed with four tape strips, so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 1200 plastic parts, eight frets of photo etched metal parts for railings, ladders, radars, etc., a metal chain and two metal propeller shafts, along with a small sheet of decals and a large instruction booklet. I use eBay Managed payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and actual shipping. Since the box is so big and weighs 13 pounds, it would not be fair to charge flat rate shipping, as I usually do. I will ship as inexpensively as possible (unless you specify otherwise). If you get overcharged by eBay, I will refund the difference. If it costs more to ship, then I will cover the extra cost. No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
